Research in our group focuses on the microscopic and spectroscopic analysis of luminescent and plasmonic nanostructures and their integration with microfluidic devices with potential applications for the development of novel biological and environmental sensors. Our research goals are inherently multidisciplinary and draw on skills from analytical, materials, physical and surface chemistries as well as biology and engineering.

We are affiliated with the Biosciences Program, the Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Institute (NNI@UI), and the Optical Science and Technology Center (OSTC).

We reside in the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories (IATL) building.
